Remembering Harley

Since March of 2017, Harley had his first seizure. That same day he had 2 more. We were all caught by surprise. We took him to the vet who indicated that it could be caused by ingesting toxins, liver disease, a brain tumor or that he has a diagnosis of idiopathic epilepsy.  We had blood tests done to rule out liver disease and toxin ingestion. Tests were ok. He was started on medication and about a month later he had 3 more cluster seizures. We noticed that the severity of his seizures increased. At one point he didnt even spasm and his body was extremely rigid, turning blue and not breathing. We thought we had lost him in our arms. Another trip to the emergency animal hospital and his medication was increased. We kept him overnight to make sure he was ok. While in the hospital, he had another Gran Mal seizure. It was so bad that the veternarian said he has never seen one so severe in his entire career.  So fast forward to today....he seemed to be getting them monthly.  We went 6 weeks without any incident then Harley had a seizure on 9/2/2017 and ended up in the animal hospital. The vet told us he could have permamnent brain damage if he his seizures are not controlled.  18  days later he had a cluster of 4 more....2 at home, one on the way to the hospital and another after he arrived. Harley was admitted to the animal hospital and had a neuro consult the next morning. He was started on an additional medication for life and was given an emergency prescription of another medication just in case he had seizures at home......That night after returning home.....he had another.... He was placed on a regimen of the emergency medication for 3 days, but it cause him to lose his balance and fall frequently. Here we are today, we have maxed out our funds and credit and only have the medications that are in the bottles and faith that we will one day find the right treatment to control his seizures. We are humbly telling our story to see if anyone can help in any way so that we can follow up with doctor's visits, explore a healthier nutritional regimen and a possible MRI. We love Harley with all of our hearts. He was a gift for our daughter 3 years ago. She has been traumatized seeing him have seizures. Our gratitiude towards any help can wil lbe always appreciated. Anything you contribute can help Harley with a better quality of life and help keep our daughter smiling knowing her little dog is ok. Thank You and many blessings to those offered any help and even to those who read this and felt our pain in any way.

UPDATE: It has taken me months to stir up the strength to update this page. For those of you who have seen this for the first time, to make a long story short, our beloved Frenchie Harley developed Gran-Mal seizures which he endured for one year. We tried everything we could, from changing his diets, giving him multiple medications, and even acupuncture. In the end, it was too late, Harley's condition was more serious than we could afford to treat. Our other dog , Chloe, a beautiful Ori-Pei of 17 1/2 years passed away of kidney failure. Six days later, Harley entered a state of static seizures, never regaining full-consciousness. Even after rushing him to the animal hospital and administering emergency medication, he continued to seize. It breaks my heart to say that Harley didn't make it. We said goodbye to our baby on 4/1/18. There's not a day that goes by that we don't think of Harley and Chloe, as a family. We are left with large emergency medical bills, which even though they are a reminder of us doing everything that we possibly could, without being able to afford to do so,  it continued to be difficult to pay. Our medical bills are nearly $11,000 but we're only asking for a portion just to make a difference. Anything you could contribute could be deeply appreciated.
All our love,
The Hache Family.
