Darby Crash: Emergency Vet Care

This is our 8 month old baby girl, Darby Crash. The sweetest, cuddliest, much loved Italian Mastiff. Everyone she meets from our friends, family, veterinarians, and patrons of the dog parks all fall in love with her as we did when we first saw her. On Sunday, 02/11/18, Darby was dragged over the 5’6” wall into the neighbors yard by their German Sheppard. They both jumped but the German Sheppards head makes it over the wall and it bit Darby by the jowl and wouldn’t let go. Darby tried so hard to get away, yelping and clawing at the cinderblock wall till her nails wore down to the quick. My girlfriend running on adrenaline jumped over the wall to see Darby being chased and attacked by the German Sheppard. Come to find out there was a second German Sheppard who was not the aggressor but didn’t help the situation. By time I was on top of the wall my girlfriend had the two German Sheppards pinned down and was yelling for me to go around to the front of their house. The neighbor finally came out unconcerned about what took place and took the dogs in. Darby was rushed to the emergency animal hospital right away with a penny size hole in jowl, her lip ripped away from her gums, abrasions, and scratches. She was all stitched up and we brought her home later that night. She’s swollen and bruised but she’s alive and will heal, which is all that matters. We just moved to this house at the beginning of January and with all the expenses of moving, closing costs, fixes, and other bills this really couldn’t have been at a worse time for us aside from our baby being injured. The neighbors don’t seem willing to help out with the bill as they are “just animals” as he said. We’re asking for any help to pay off this emergency vet bill so we can get past it and just worry about our puppy getting healed. Thank you for taking the time to read our story.
