I am a Hokie.  I have always been proud to be a Virginia Tech alumni until the University recently announced its decision to induct Michael Vick into the VT Sports Hall of Fame.  

I am also an avid animal lover, particularly dogs.  

In 2007, Michael Vick pled guilty for his involvement in a dog fighting ring and spent 23 months in federal prison.  Along with abuse, torture and execution of dogs, drugs and gambling were involved.  If you are a dog lover and advocate, a sports fan, a Hokie or none of the above, you've probably heard the gruesome details about this case.

By inducting Michael Vick, a non graduate, into the Virginia Tech Sports Hall of Fame, the University has decided to honor a man for his athletic ability rather than honor a person for being a decent and honorable human being.  

I would hope a top leading University, especially one who has an excellent Veterinary Program, would take a second look at themselves and evaluate what they want to be known for.  Michael Vick should be anything but honored at Virginia Tech, and absolutely not inducted into the VT Sports Hall of Fame.
