About
One of our favorite places to teach kids about food is in the Garden at AT&T Park, a 4,320-square-foot edible garden located inside AT&T Park, home of the San Francisco Giants.
San Francisco children from elementary schools and community organizations, like the Boys and Girls Club and YMCA, are invited to visit the Garden for weekly field trips. Through hands-on activities, kids learn about the importance of healthy eating, see first-hand where food comes from and how it grows, and roll up their sleeves for cooking classes guided by Bon Appétit and other Bay Area guest chefs.
We grow all kinds of fruits, vegetables, greens, and herbs in this outdoor classroom and kids have the opportunity to see them growing in plant form and then harvest and cook with them. As we demonstrate how whole ingredients can be made into meals, our goal is to excite kids about preparing and eating healthy food and encourage them to live healthier, more active lives.
