May Hero Arts My Monthly Hero Countdown Hop!

There is a very extra special Hero Arts My Monthly Hero kit this month! You may have heard that Hero Arts is celebrating it's 50th birthday, and we have the perfect kit to match. Be sure to leave comments throughout the countdown hop for a chance to win a kit of your own!

My card is created using the Classic May My Monthly Hero Kit. I used some smaller candles to create my own background pattern. All images are colored with Prismacolor Pencils. I used the scalloped rectangle infinity die to give a fun border to the panel, and layered that on Paradise cardstock.

There are also some fun dies included in the kit! I heat embossed Pitch Black Cardstock with black detail embossing powder, then die cut the 'wish' sentiment. The 'wish' and cake slice were popped up with foam tape.

Be sure to subscribe to the kit so you don't miss out! Thanks for stopping by :)

Fancy Bonsai Tree

The preschool classroom I worked in with I first moved to California was called the "Bonsai Class" - when I opened the space my in laws even bought me a little bonsai tree to decorate my classroom... I haven't been in that room for about 5 years now, but I've seen in recent photos that the tree is still in the classroom and thriving! That was all I could think of when creating this card using the Bonsai Fancy Die.

I started with the backgrounds for this card. I used Peony Ink on white cardstock to stamp the Origami Paper Bold Print. I then stamped the Words of Peace Bold Print with Periwinkle Ink onto Arctic cardstock. I created a window by die cutting the center of the Arctic cardstock with a Rounded Jewel Infinity Die and glued that panel on top of the Origami Paper panel.

Now it's time to put together the Bonsai Die! Each of the pieces that were die cut, I also shaded the edges with a similar color ink using my small blending brushes. The leaves are cut from Meadow Cardstock and shaded with Fresh Lawn ink. The trunk is cut from Cup O Joe cardstock and shaded with Cup O Joe ink. The flowers are cut from Peony cardstock and shaded with Cotton Candy ink. And lastly the container was cut from Paradise cardstock and shaded with Bermuda ink

For the sentiment, I pulled out the beautiful Crane Wishes stamp set for the sentiment, which was stamped with Charcoal ink. The sentiment I used fits the occasion for when I received my bonsai plant, so I thought it was a full circle card moment!

Delicate cards for any occasion

My friend recently requested a set of cards without any sentiment, so she could use them for any occasion needed. I realized that this was the biggest. challenge. ever. I struggled! I realized that I tend to use a sentiment as a focal point of a card, or at the very least, it's the finishing touch to the card. I'm happy to report I pulled through and the two cards below were born!

The main images are from the Hero Arts Lavender and Cosmos stamp set. The flowers are stamped on Deluxe Smooth White cardstock and stamped in Intense Black ink. I colored all the images with my Polychromos pencils

The lavender card uses a background stamp called Words of Peace, which I stamped in Mist ink. I also die cut a Rounded Jewel Infinity Die from vellum to back the lavender stamp.

Isn't the cosmos stamp so pretty?! For this card, I used the Abstract Criss Cross Bold Print with Green Apple ink.
