CHRISTINE-TANTIWA KINSON is a recent Masters Graduate in Fashion Womenswear Knitwear from The Royal College Of Art, London. CHRISTINE completed her Bachelors degree at the Kingston University London in Fashion Design where she first specialised in Womenswear Knitwear. Although deciding to specialise in Womenswear Knitwear, her industry experience varies across Footwear, Accessories and Menswear from design brands in the North East of England, London and New York. By combining these experiences she was able to design and create a collection that truly showcases who she is as a designer.

'DISRUPTING PERFECTION'

CHRISTINE'S influences for her collection 'DISRUPTING PERFECTION' has been her own personal struggle with perfectionism and how this relationship with perfectionism controls her practice.
With inspiration taken from artist Bridget Riley she began her work with the perfect graphic black and white stripe, which she had to force herself to distort. She then began to layer the stripes with contrasting neon colours, which were hand cut and draped over each other.
These exercises took the perfect, but lifeless graphic stripe and gave it complexity and life - through movement the stripe is never seen in the same flat way again, as she has created an optical illusion that sculpts the stripe around the body.
This process has allowed CHRISTINE to enter a new creative dimension, where she can control her material only to a certain degree, and allow it to be disrupted and transformed.
