Star Jones

Star Jones is an attorney, former New York City homicide prosecutor, business executive, best-selling author and an Emmy award nominated TV host. Skilled in law, media and business, Ms. Jones is presently a member of the Board of Directors and President of Professional Diversity Network, a publicly traded company (Nasdaq: IPDN). As such, Ms. Jones leads a nationwide team dedicated to supporting and advocating for IPDN’s over 10-million-member network of diverse job-seekers. Ms. Jones is also National Spokesperson for IPDN’s new subsidiary, the International Association of Women (IAW) (formerly NAPW) based in the US and China that now provides expanded networking and career opportunities for nearly 1,000,000 diverse professional women members globally in the over 100 local US  and  China  chapters and 35,000+ virtual eChapter members. As President of IPDN, Ms. Jones is responsible for implementing IPDNs programming strategy and is tasked with conveying the message, brand and image of IPDN worldwide. She is the youngest amongst a small group of African-American women helping to lead a publicly traded company in the U.S.

Ms. Jones is a graduate of the American University with a degree in the Administration of Justice and the University of Houston School of Law where she received her Juris Doctorate. Law and advocacy is Ms. Jones' first love and for the last 25 years she was and still is, a licensed attorney in the state of New York.

Ms.  Jones has also worked in television for more than 25 years; offering a fresh perspective to the day’s most talked about crime and justice, political and sociological issues from the worlds of news, entertainment, politics and pop culture.  Best known to television viewers for her candor, confidence and uncanny ability to clarify muddy legal and social issues. Among other positions, Ms. Jones served as a NBC News Legal  Correspondent and Commentator, and as a co-host of ABC’s The View for nine years. Her knowledge of the law and talent for television has won her critical acclaim as a news and legal journalist, television host and social commentator.  Along with her View colleagues, Ms. Jones is a 2017 Inductee into the Broadcasting and Cable Hall of Fame. 

A featured personality for numerous consumer brands, Ms. Jones has graced the cover of and/or been featured in every major newspaper and magazine in the U.S. on topics ranging from news to lifestyle.  Also an accomplished author, Ms. Jones has written two best-selling, non-fiction books: You Have to Stand for Something, or You’ll Fall for Anything (Bantam) and Shine...a Physical, Emotional & Spiritual Journey to Finding Love (Harper Collins).  Her third bestselling book, Satan’s Sisters, (a fictional account of the behind-the-scenes workings of a daytime talk show) was published in 2011 and developed into "Daytime Divas," a VH1 network television series with Ms. Jones as an Executive Producer.

An active supporter of the Democratic National Committee, Ms. Jones has acted as an informal advisor to former chairman Howard Dean; and a prolific fundraiser and a national surrogate on behalf of former President Bill Clinton, former Vice- President Al Gore, Senator John Kerry, President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.

As someone who believes “to whom much is given, much is required,” Ms. Jones is heavily involved in numerous philanthropic efforts and has served/serves on the Board of Directors/Trustees and led fundraising efforts for The American Ballet Theatre,  Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for Cancer Research, God’s Love We Deliver, WACO Arts Foundation, Art For Life, The National Urban League, The East Harlem School at Exodus House, Girls, Inc. and Dress for Success Worldwide.

This attorney, television personality, former prosecutor, political insider, philanthropist and bestselling author; can now add Survivor and Heart Health Advocate to her impressive list of credentials. In 2010, Ms. Jones underwent successful Open Heart Surgery and in 2011 was named the American Heart Association’s National Volunteer. As the leader of AHA’s national GoRed heart health initiative, Ms.  Jones was also enlisted as a keynote speaker on the issue of Heart Health for the 2013 Presidential Inauguration National Day of Service. Seen throughout the 2011 season of NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice” on behalf of The American Heart Association breaking fundraising records and advocating for heart health, Ms. Jones is utilizing her name, voice, time and international media platform to combat cardio-vascular disease; the nations’ number one killer and champion Heart Health in America.
