South America – Peru

Hola Amigos!

You must be wondering where did this girl disappear? No post, no updates for a long time. Well, I was in India and after I got back, I was swamped with a lot things. But, now I am back with a brand new post of an extremely popular destination among travelers, Peru.

Peru was one of the most exciting and adventurous trips of last year. The shortest flight to get there (Cusco) is more than 10 hours from New York, but it seemed bearable because of all the excitement to get there. I and my husband went there last fall. For Peruvians, it was the beginning of spring as geographically South America is below equator. Weather was slightly chilly in the mornings and evenings. It was a week-long trip, so we only did Lima, Cusco and Macchu Picchu. The Inca empire (early 16th century), was the largest empire in pre-Columbian America and in Peru you will see a lot of its remains. Their ruins leaves you with so many unanswered questions.

The highlight of our trip was definitely Macchu Picchu (built by the Inca civilization in early 15th century and is believed to be a royal estate or sacred religious site for Inca leaders) and we saved it for the end. Our main focus in Lima and Cusco was food as Peru is famous for it’s amazing Ceviches and Pisco sour (an alcoholic drink). Cusco has some amazing Chifa cuisine restaurants, it is a fusion of Chinese and Peruvian food and believe me it was delicious.

Points of attraction in Lima:  Old city: Plaza Mayor, Government Palace, Monastery of San Francisco, Archbishop’s palace of Lima. Miraflores, a fun area to hangout, good hotels and restaurants are there. Larcomar is a mall on cliff in Miraflores with great views, stores and restaurants. Amor Park is a Gaudi style of architectue park in Miraflores.

Restaurants in Lima: Mangos in Larcomar, KO in Larcomar, Tanta in Larcomar, Aston and Gastrid, and Lamar are some great restaurants.

Cusco is very picturesque and is a base area for Macchu Picchu for travelers to get use to the altitude difference while traveling. The locals suggest to drink Mate-de-coca tea at most of the times to feel comfortable and to avoid nausea and uneasiness. Cusco is such a cute little town with a lot of Inca history, we stayed there for 3 days and I still feel that we could have stayed longer.

Points of attraction in Cusco: Qoriqancha, Cusco cathedral, Saksaywaman, Pukapukara and Q’enqo. Sacred valley: Pisac. Ollantaytambo and Incan ruins are a short drive from Cusco.

Restaurants in Cusco: KION is an amazing chifa restaurant and Kusikuy are worth trying.

Aguas clientes is actually the foot hills of Macchu Picchu, from where you can either choose to hike or take an early morning 4am bus to the top to see the sunrise. We took an early morning bus, it took us twenty-five minutes to get there. The sun rise and views were spectacular, we hiked to the sun-gate, guard-hut and couple of other spots after our one hour guided tour. Spent more than 7-8 hours there and then came back to the small town of Aguas Cliente and took the evening train back to Cusco.

Make sure to keep your most comfortable sneaker and hike wear for Macchu Picchu.

So are you ready for your next adventure to South America?

Colombia!

Hola amigos!

Everybody wants to go to South American continent as it is quite a popular destination these days, and Colombia is one of the most amazing countries there. Five hours plane ride to the south of North America lies Colombia and it is not just famous for Shakira and Pablo Escobar, it is also famous for its spectacular cacao, coffee and hand-made accessories. Make sure to buy loads of it for you and your friends as souvenirs.

I was quite excited for this trip, to explore the country, culture, people, and food, since I had never been to South America, so it was an all together a new experience. We went to Cartagena last Fall for four days, it is officially called “The Miami of Colombia” and we also spent a day in Bogota.

Fish ceviches for me were my favorite food there. In Cartagena, we stayed inside the walled city in a small casa (castle). Walled city is an old town with a lot of charm and the most beautiful part is the colorful artisitc houses next to each other.

Attractions: Castillo San Felipe de Barajas (Fort), Walk in the old city, Convento La Popa de la Galera (View point and Church), Iglesia de San Pedro Claver (Cathedral), and Plaza de los Coches (square) are major points of interests. Rosario beach is not the closest, but beautiful to visit. If you have time make sure you do Tyrona National Park, we couldn’t do it because of lack of time.

Must try restaurants: La Cevicheria, La Mulata

Weather: It was pleasant summer time during the end of August-early September.

What to wear? Summery comfortable clothes like sun dresses, shorts and airy light clothes are best to wear here. Flip flops are ideal to wear. Make sure to carry a bug spray, you will need it for sure to prevent yourself from Zika virus.

Your itinerary is ready, what are we waiting for?  Pack your bags and fly to south America.

Adios!

Belgium!

b30
Aerial view of the city of Brussels

Belgium, the land where Tin Tin and Captain were born. This is another favorite country of mine, where local people are super friendly and happy. Dutch, flemish, french and somewhat english are their main languages. Beer is their most famous alcoholic beverage and they have literally thousand types of Belgian beers.

I and a couple of my friends planned a 4-day trip to the city of Brussels and Bruges together in July of 2016. Weather is mostly rainy here in July, it almost rained every single day, but that didn’t ruin our spirits of exploring the city. I wish I could have stayed a little longer and explored Ghent and Antwerp too, but I am surely going back with my husband someday. Brussels is a mix of modern and historical european city and is more metropolitan, however Bruges is very much like Brussels with an addition of canals and lots of old city charm.

I also made sure NOT to miss the famous Belgian frites, waffles and chocolate.

Do not go to any random chocolate boutique and compromise on the taste, only go to the best like Neuhaus, Godiva, Galler, Marcolini.

{One fun fact: If you are vegetarian, you should know that frites are cooked in beef fat}

Must see attractions in Brussels: Grand Place, Town hall, Mannekin piss (little smaller than you expect), Atomium, Basilica of sacred heart, Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula, Palace of Justice, Royal Palace of Brussels, Mont des arts, Comic Museum and comic strip walk.

Restaurants in Brussels: Le restaurant du mim (food and views were great), Feux de bengale (my Indian vegetarian friend took me there and the food was beyond my expectations), Maison Dandoy for waffles (I think it was over rated), Fritland (YES,YES and YES, best frites and dips)

Must see attractions in Bruges: Markt, Basilica of Holy blood, Church of our Lady Bruges, Canal boat tour is a must, Walk in the city and Explore it.

What to wear: Comfortable clothes and shoes are very much required. Pack a light quilted jacket and an umbrella as weather is very unpredictable and gets cold after rains.

Happy holidays everyone!!

Hello to all my favorite people!

Holiday season is the best time of the year. There is a very different energy during this time in New York. People like to shop, decorate, eat, relax, watch broadway shows, attend christmas themed parties or they just go on a vacation. If given a choice, I would like to do it all!! I am very excited to share the holiday season look from our recent shoot with my husband and our little boy “Jojo Suneja”, who needs no introduction.

Rocking the fall palette for the holiday season look by wearing Lush Meadow (green) lace dress with the most favorite classics: Chanel flap bag, Cartier love bracelet, and the limited edition red soles Louboutins complete the entire look.

This year has gone by so fast, I can’t believe that 2017 is almost here. I am so thankful to the almighty for this beautiful and blessed year. So many good things had happened this year and hoping for many more next year.

I hope you will enjoy this look!

Happy holidays everyone and have a fantastic 2017!!

That stunning blue dress!

Hola Amigos!

The cold holiday season in NY has begun. The christmas decoration has taken over the New York City which doubles my excitement of being here and celebrating it with my family and friends. Sorry, I have been little MIA lately as I was busy traveling with my parents and then I was under the weather for a while. I finally feel good, just coughing, but a lot better now. Thanks to all of you guys, who texted me and asked me How am I doing? where have I disappeared? And when is my next post coming?! I felt how grateful I am of your love and support. I pulled my socks and here I am sharing a brand new fashion post with all you gorgeous people.

I brought you these glamorous pictures from one of my shoots with Kichaak productions a few months ago. The blue satin balloon dress is absolutely stunning, I feel extremely feminine and powerful in this dress and it’s also one of my favorite peices from my closet. The blue color is bright and royal. I played with a plenty of gold here, my shoes, belt, handbag, and my accesories are also complementing the dress. Girls, ditch your black evening dress and try some new colors for a change. I absolutely adore this look, post your comments and let me know how you feel about it.

You can find all the similar peices in links provided below.

I truly hope you enjoyed reading this post. Enjoy December!!

Budapest, Hungary

h4
Side view of the Hungarian Parliament

Hungary is a very beautiful country in Eastern Europe with a very fascinating history connecting all of the eastern european countries together. It had always been on my bucket list, as it is a very popular destination among tourists. The young crowd loves to party in Budapest, it is actually called one of the most popular party destinations in the world. Well, coming from New York city, I had no intentions of Partying in Budapest.

Buda and Pest are two different areas in the city separated by the Danube river and connected by a couple of bridges, out of which the most popular bridge is the Chain bridge. Buda is the old city side, which is architecturally very beautiful and Pest is the newer city, which has the most iconic Hungarian parliament building, and some other beautiful landmarks. I and my dear friend planned this trip together in summer this year to celebrate her birthday and we had a wonderful time. Weather was very pleasant, so we enjoyed walking around in the city even more. We stayed there for 3 days and it was sufficient to see the city.

I always comment on the local people in my blog posts, but my personal experiences were pretty sour there, so my only advice to you would be “JUST BE VERY CAREFUL” specially with cab drivers, small stores, restaurants, and souvenirs stores. Make sure you count your money in front of them while paying because they try to take advantage of that (from my own experiences).  There are a lot of tourists traps in the tourist areas, so it would be little expensive, but usually city is not at all expensive.

Must see: Buda Castle (it’s closed from inside due to the fire caused during world war II), Matthais church and Fisherman’s bastion (for views of Pest side), Chain Bridge, Citadel (for views), St Stephen’s Basilica, Hungarian Parliament building (tour is must), Great Market hall (a good place to buy souvenirs, PLEASE DO NOT EAT LANGOSH/LOCAL FOOD IN THIS AREA, as the only restaurant which serves local Hungarian food here is very corrupt. My personal experience was terrible there, so I wouldn’t recommend you to eat. Shoes on the Danube bank, Sczchenyi thermal baths (these thermal baths are hideous, smelly and extremely dirty, their interiors smell like horse stable and pools are very dirty, so a big “NO” to that), Hosok tere (a small square), Nyugati railway terminal by Gustav Eiffel, evening Ferry tour of Danube river is a must. I would recommend taking a stroll in the city, its gorgeous.

Restaurants: Spoon (it is a boat restaurant, food and views were outstanding), Someone recommended us New York Cafe: A big “NO” to that (please don’t go there for food, interiors are breathtaking, but that’s pretty much it)

What to wear: Summer was nice and warm, I mostly wore comfortable clothes and shoes to walk around in the city. Also, cabs are cheap so even if you decide to wear heels, you can totally take a cab.

Ready for an excursion to eastern Europe? Pack your bags and explore the world.

Ciao!!

Glam it up!

Hello my beautiful friends!

It’s always fun to receive your fabulous feedback on my posts and I am so excited to share this new shoot with you all. We shot this at a very gorgeous location called St. Georges Tavern, a really cool bar and a restaurant in downtown New York, with a very rustic interiors and very friendly ambience. Their food and drinks are worth trying and it is a popular spot among office crowd.

Well, coming on to the look, I love wearing ruffle skirts because it makes me feel like I am still a teenager and attending my prom. I scored this skirt and this tube-top from H&M SALE a few months ago (find similar in the links provided below). The sequined top adds a whole lot of glamour to the full look. I tied my hair into a high pony tail to accentuate my make up and put more focus on my face. These Python pumps are my favorite as these are gifted to me by my very dear friend and it almost goes with everything I wear because of it’s neutral color.

A glass of wine says it all, I am ready to hit the party in this look, Are you?

Thanks for reading and feel free to post your comments.

xx

Norway: A true heaven indeed!

13923796_10209988579781445_8240324123684065407_o
Gorgeous Art Noveau town of Alesund

Hi Folks,

I am so excited to share our Norway experiences with you. Norway is such a beautiful country. The landscape here is breathtaking and so splendid that I just wanted to stay there forever. I wanted to do New Zealand so bad because of the Fjords, but then I found out that Norway also have some gorgeous Fjords and not just Fjords, there is so much natural beauty to see in this small country.

It is one of the most scenic Scandinavian countries, though, food is not much of a highlight here. Viking history is fun to learn about. We were there for four days and since it was summer, not a good time to find northern lights, so we didn’t go to much higher latitude. During this time you have full 24 hours of daylight, which in itself is a different experience altogether. We decided to spend two days in Alesund, a gorgeous art noveau town by the water. Next day, we drove to Geirenger and took a private boat tour to see and experience the fjords. We spent a whole day in Geirenger and drove to Dalsnibba mountain and lake Djupvatnet. Next day, we drove to Oslo and spent a day there and explored the city. It was definitely a short trip, so I saved a lot of places for next time as I want to come back and see the northern lights from Norway.

Must see:

Alesund: Walk in the old city, hike to the view point for the beautiful city views.

Geirenger: Fjords, Seven sisters waterfall, Bachelor waterfall, Dalsnibba mountain, Djupvatnet glacial lake and there are also must go view points.

Oslo: Viking ship Museum, Royal Palace, Frogner Park, Akershus Fort, Hollmenkolen ski mueseum

Must try restaurant in Oslo: Festningen

What to wear? North was cold, but during the day time you just need a fall/wind jacket to protect yourself from the wind. Oslo was celebrating summer, so it was pretty much like New York summer. I wore a comfortable pair sneakers through out the trip to make my feet happy.

My husband chose the hotel Scandic hollmenkolen Park in Oslo for its location and the beautiful views.

Enjoy the post and have a wonderful week!

Are you ready for my new evening look?

Hi peeps!

I am back with this ravishing new evening look and so excited to share another gorgeous photo shoot with my favorite Kichaak Productions. I am very picky when it comes to a fancy date/cocktail night outfit. I want to make sure that I am not over doing it and also not just looking very casual. A date/cocktail night outfit has to be classy, upscale and elegant. Now, let’s talk a little bit about this look, the dress here is very glitzy and glamorous, to accentuate the full look I wore a pair of my old peep toes with just a minimal bling. And to complete the look I kept make up very subtle and nude. So girls, what are you waiting for? Dig in your closet or go out for shopping for that perfect date/cocktail night look.

I hope you enjoyed reading it.

Have a fantastic week!

Say “YES” to Crop tops and High waisted shorts!!

Welcome August! This month say “hello” to your crop tops and high waisted skirts, shorts, pants and denims. The latest trends call for this gorgeous style. As we are transitioning into fall, I used the fall/ winter palette colors. I specifically love this monochrome top as you can pair it with any vibrant color shorts/skirts/pants. These striped high waisted shorts are my personal favorites from my own closet. These platform wedges are my recent love, I could walk in these without any complaints for more than 10 hours straight. I hope you enjoyed my August look. Have a splendid week and enjoy reading!
