its been a year and 3 months since I have been natural. so far my sisters and cousins are loving it. new style and density in terms of our hairs. this post is about not giving up and continuing with your hair journey together. remember that your hair will grow in thickness before length, don’t concentrate too much on the length but health of your hair. this can be accomplished by:

– drinking a lot of water

-eating well (fruits and vegetables)

– exercising

-overall care of the hair-remember to moisturize daily with water and oil.

The pic shows my journey so far and I see a difference with the density of my hair and the style is a bantu knots with no twists.

 will soon show the length of my hair but am happy with the hair God gave me. don’t compare your curls and kinks with others this will lead to discouragement. love your curls.

grunge fashion.

grunge fashion is basically the 90′ style
the nineties are back and with a twist everyone can digest.

the 10 items I think one should have to be grunge.

1.plastic shoes ( jelly shoes)
I acquired the high heel version of them in coral . this was a staple in the nineties. this will work well with almost anything; jeans,skirt and even a dress.

2. dark lips
shades of dark red, purple , maroon and brown. for the brave black . this will be complete any look . PS this colours are great when its cold

3.dungaree
this are so awesome if you want to wear crop tops and not that courageous; try the crop with the dungaree. this is one item that has still evaded my closet. finger crossed .

4.round glasses(MAHATMA GANDI SUNGLASSES)
totally love this. all I can say on the subject

5.cotton long skirts
this can have slits, be checked and may have flowers for those who are brave.

6.poetic justice braids (box braids)
this where made famous in the nineties by janet Jackson on the movie poetic justice. and where bought back by solange (love her style)

7.plaid shirts
flawess ( beyonce) this shirt is so timeless and can make any outfit look bananaz good.

8. loose jackets.
buy any loose jackets and matched with a simple tshirt and jeans. grunge

9. miltrary boots
this is the most versatile of all the items. skirt, dresses, jeans and even the dungaree can all be rocked with this boots

10.ripped jeans
cut a straight line in one your jeans at the knee instant ripped jeans.

BANANA LOVEEEEEE!.

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where the bananas meant for matoke ripened because life caught up to you? this happened to me and I found myself wondering what to do with all this bananas that have all ripened at the same time. I found five recipes to use all the bananas.
1. banana bread
2. banana fruit smoothie
3. banana ice cream
4. banana blueberry muffins
5. banana pancakes.
all this I have to do in a span of three days and hope not to bore my people with bananas.

1. banana smoothie
this a simple recipe and can also be used as a post workout smoothie to gain back energy
ingredients
3 banana
a lemon
a mango
an avocado
sugar (optional)
water

peel the bananas, mango and avocado and put in a blender and squeeze the juice of a lemon.3
add water till it feels the blender. blend till the desired thickness is allowed.
( serves 4)

do not be afraid to try out new hairstyles . you might just look amazing.
perhaps yarn braids or cornrows.

hello its been a minute but am back and with a bang . I plan on doing several blogs this week to catch up with the time I have been away .
the new hair of the last two months is crotchet braids. crotchet braids are like weaves. all you need to do is cornrows( lines ) on your hair and attach the hair pieces to the cornlines . I have posted photos for better understand.

I have done it twice with Abuja braids which I would do bantu knots and insert in hot water to get curls. am currently rocking a short do with soft multi braids from sista which I cut four times to achieve  a short hairstyle. my sista did the installation , I did the lines and I pretty impressed with the results.
you need to do many lines in the front row of your hair to make sure you fill the gaps properly and make it easier to make styles.

the crotchet tool- latch and hook  can be purchased from town in the shops for carpets and threads (biashara street)
deep condition the hair before doing crotchet braids.

hello this September Saturday,
Today I would like to talk about yarn braids( hair piece from uzi (Kiswahili)). I didn’t believe I could actually do my own braids. the first time I did it,I didn’t know how to do it well but the second time around I did pretty well. don’t be afraid to try something new, it can have amazing results.
Remember:
– to prepare your yarn braids in advance by cutting the preferred length
– to prepare your hair before you plait by deep conditioning and trimming the weak ends for it to grow well when in the yarn braids.
the best way to do the yarn braids is to twist your hair first after doing the LOC method then place the yarn on the twists. seal the ends with heat flame from a candle or lighter. there are videos from you tube which show how to.(WILONDA PREVILION)

Advantages
1.colour. any colour you want can be found in yarn
2. length- you will determine the length of the braids
3. accessories- you can put shells or beads in your hair which the yarn support

Disadvantages
1. washing -drying them can be a little hard because its basically cotton.
2.keeping your moisturized is harder because yrn is cotton which is basically known for its absorbment.
solution for this is the homemade braid spray whish you will spray twice per day to keep your hair moisturized and always sleep with a silk scarf tied in your hair.

try it and you will be pleased and be people might actually think you have locks from a far.
