MEET THE TEACHERS!

MADDIE MAY

IMG_7354_preview.jpeg

Currently residing in Knoxville TN, Maddie is the owner and founder of MaddFit, a virtual health community helping people reconnect to what healthy actually means.

After 13 years of on and off yoga practice–dabbling here and there in an attempt to “chill out”, be super flexible, and then finally as a means to heal from a serious injury– Maddie found a regular yoga practice and a deeper meaning in Forward Fold than touching her nose to the ground.  Maddie completed her 200-hr teacher training at Mighty Yoga in 2015and Sustainable & Safe Adaptations of Yoga with Liz Heffernan of Soma Yoga Institute.

Well-accustomed to training the body as a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor, as well as an online fitness professional, Maddie offers yoga as a vehicle to connect the body and mind through the breath.  She finds that this union brings fitness to an entirely different level.

My yoga practice brings me back to a friendship with myself. Whether it’s kicking my own butt into a better attitude (we all know a good sweat can release all that toxic mental talk) or bringing myself to a place a self-forgiveness. Regardless of the yoga style, the purpose is to nourish and reconnect my mind and body, because like most humans, I become disjointed in this crazy place we call earth.

HOPE M.

Hope has been teaching at Mighty Yoga since 2014. In her classes, you will enjoy energizing and creative sequences to cultivate strength, balance, and flexibility, and most importantly: mindfulness. Find peace and strength within yourself as a person through a centering and strengthening yoga practice. Originally from Los Angeles, California, she and her family moved to Vermont about six years ago.

Hope's teaching style reflects the power and integrity of an Ashtanga yoga practice, the fluidity of a vinyasa flow, and the playfulness and self-exploration of a young and creative yogi.

She is also a Reiki practitioner, and believes in the power of holistic healing and therapy. She hopes to share some of that self-healing with every student in her classes through yoga and mindfulness.
