Madi's Lyme Disease Treatment

Some of you may know this, some may not, but for the past 3 years I have had Lyme disease. This isn’t something I always talk about as I put in endless effort to be positive and happy. Lyme disease affects so many people in Canada, even though the government does not recognize it or treat it properly. There is great controversy with how it is treated when it is a chronic illness. It affects more people that you expect and sadly, multiple people you probably know. Unfortunately there are very limited successful treatment options in Canada, so my family and I have been traveling to a doctor in New York for over 2 years. Treatment there was working slowly but successfully for a while. Although, now I have not been getting better and am actually more sick than I was this time last year. After many weeks of research, my family and I have decided I am going for treatment at Sponaugle Institute of Wellness in Florida. We feel it is my best and honestly only option to regain my health at this point. This treatment will require us to live in Florida for as long as the treatment takes and pay all costs directly as nothing is covered. I will be leaving around May 9th and the length of treatment is undetermined, but likely 6-12 weeks. My family has made the decision to do this treatment and is prepared to cover all costs. 

However, should you want to support us, we have created this go fund to help cover the high costs of this out of country treatment. We also ask that you help us raise awareness for this issue by educating yourself. I have attached a few links. I want all people suffering from Lyme disease to be able to get the proper treatment in Canada and not have to spend days googling what to do next because doctors won’t recognize your debilitating illness.
