I have always been very creative. That creativity has manifested itself in different ways throughout my life. I never really fit working a 9 to 5 job, always felt restless and confined. I worked in an office type job for 20 years, and I would daydream about other more exciting things I could be doing. My life changed 9 years ago, when I lost my home, friends, and all that I have known all my life, and had to start all over. Hurricane Katrina, was the reason, I didn't have a choice, but was forced to begin again. I was depressed at first, but I knew things would get better, but on the brighter side, I was alive and given the opportunity to reinvent myself.

So I knew I didn't want , if I could help it, a 9 to 5 job. First, I tried being a Real Estate Broker, which allowed me to have that freedom to do other things as well, but that didn't go as planned and I didn't realize that Real Estate was so all consuming. Later, I also realized it was the worst time to get into the housing market. So, I knew I had to do something that would bring in some kind of money, so I prayed and asked for some guidance and was led to Etsy.

When people ask, how I got started I tell them, divine intervention, and some understand and others, say yeah, right. That's the only way I can explain it, I woke in the morning and proceeded with getting my Etsy shop started. I wanted to do something to help the environment, so I decided I would only use recycled materials, and I knew women loved jewelry, and I also knew that I had to come up with something unique to stand out. I LOVE creating something unique, that women can be happy wearing, and so proud to say that I created it with my own two hands.

It is definitely a labor of love, I just hope I can continue to do this. I am fortunate to have a husband and daughter who supports me.
