Life is funny. Opportunity is weird. I'm a big fan of flying by the seat of my pants.
When @kevintporter said "don't be afraid of changing positions to get the shot you want" I giggled a lot and said "don't worry, I'm a wedding photographer."
I say this with all the love in my heart: groomsmen are like puppies. They just want everything to be fun and they make my life really great. Major props to my people having equally excellent humans in their lives to make their days bomb.com 💕
And for anyone keeping track, their wedding is in the same number of days that I can count on one hand.
October is my busiest wedding month this year. Dear weather, please act like you did last weekend or else. #bonniejeankoenn
Here's to many more decades of photo bombing each other at important life milestones and you two doing the Dirty Dancing lift when you're 80. Happy first anniversary Mr and Mrs Williams!! #flipthatM 📷 @joelallegretto
Dear sweet Olivia and Isabella, today you're 6 and in 22 days I get to watch your family grow and see you finally (legally) gain the daddy you deserve.
It's such an honor to be part of telling your story. You're both such a sweet reminder of redemptive grace and provision and joy and innocence. Keep that for as long as humanly possible. You're greatly loved by many, little wolves. Happy happy birthday. 💕
Photography full time doesn't always mean a steady paycheck. So that's why I'm thankful that almost a year later, I still have this job.
It gets me out of the house. It also gets me cute clothes here and there. I'm pretty thankful for what life has done for my Kobe year. #24 #gengirl
It's officially been a year since I chose to be a photographer, full time.
If I had to go back, I wouldn't change a thing. I would still move to North Carolina. I would still give sales a chance. I would still step away with no real plan but to go wherever my lens pointed.
I get to nurture the relationship my people have with cameras. I'm able to give marriages something beautiful. I show women how to love themselves so they can love their men better.
This job isn't the easiest, nor is it always glamorous. The roller coaster of emotion is sometimes enough to make me want to quit. But I belong in this job and I know it.
It hasn't been the perfect year, but it's been a damn good one.
I honestly hate wearing makeup when I have to shoot weddings. I sweat like a fiend and I feel like it just gets all over my camera.
Here's the first wedding I'm shooting with the bare minimum: blush, mascara, and eyebrows (and no filter). How? My @ladymadestuff sugar scrub. I swear, one week of using it daily has made me completely do away with moisturizer and my skin tone is now even enough that I'm not trying to fix it with foundation.
Here's to being able to focus on what's really important: my job. Not how I look doing it. 📷
