Late night FaceTime dates with this woman nourish my soul. From talking about photography to dating to Jesus and everything in between, she's a gem. I'm blessed to share a birthday with miss @rachmcdaniel 💕 also #tbt to the #twirp date with @chase_mz3 and @joshryanverdone where we almost died on the freeway because of this selfie and Josh trying to take the wheel from the back seat. Do you have a paper clip?
Today I broke a glass while doing the dishes. Funny enough, I wasn't upset about it. It made me think about the past two and a half years and boy did it make a whole heck of a lot more sense. ••••••••••••••
There is a lot of brokenness that follows any kind of assault. That brokenness can cause hurt to others. When a glass falls on the floor and breaks, you immediately warn anyone walking by. You wouldn't want them to get injured by the tiny shards they can't see. If you would treat a broken glass this way, why wouldn't you treat your assault this way? More often than not, the pieces are a lot easier to pick up when you have help from the people who love you. It's about trust. It's about transparency. It's freedom.
Yesterday I invoiced. Oye. ••••••
In case there was a question: my challenge to myself for the next is to include the #saam logo on at least one post per day. Advocacy is a daily routine, and it should come through in everything you do. When I interviewed for this job they asked what I was passionate about, I said, "making people aware of how often assault happens and how it needs to end."
Okay so I'm following @megangarrison10's lead. I wish I knew about this month sooner, because I would have been posting about it every other day. At least. This is such an important thing. Advocate for sex trafficking all you want, this is another arm of that horrific beast. Funny thing is that THIS is not talked about enough. •
1 in 5 women in America is a victim of sexual assault. WHY is that statistic a thing?! Because we live in a culture that tells girls they should do everything they can to not get raped rather than teaching boys the meaning of "no." I hate that I could bring a daughter into that kind of world. I hate that I live in that kind of world. •
I pray for the day women can wake up in the morning and believe their bodies are not responsible for the actions of men.
Was missing these crazy people all dang day. But I'm sure thankful they did what they could to make me not feel so alone. Holidays just aren't the same when you don't have your people. Thankful for my Savior and his sacrifice, but even more that he put these guys in my corner.
Fact: I'm a pizza snob. I never thought I would taste pizza outside of New York or Chicago that would even scratch the surface of comparison. Y'all. This is the best pizza I have ever experienced. Ever.
Okay so this is more of a #tbt but I literally don't care: two of the most talented designers I've ever seen go through the journalism and graphic design programs at CBU had their senior show last night and my heart couldn't be more full after seeing their displays from the photos posted online. I heard absolutely incredible things about the whole show, and it really just is such a sweet testament to the dedication @mbdx @dirka and @treverhoehne (and Andrew, Thomas, Steve, and Nancy) have toward the students at CBU. Last night's group was one filled with absolute rock stars. These ones are going places, world. Watch out for them.
