"This was taken on Lake Shojiko in Japan during sunrise. My dad and I cycled 20km from Kawaguchiko in the early hours of the morning to get to this lake for sunrise, and it turned out to be one of the most beautiful mornings we had during our 3 weeks in Japan." - @jordhammond

"This was taken on Lake Shojiko in Japan during sunrise. My dad and I cycled 20km from Kawaguchiko in the early hours of the morning to get to this lake for sunrise, and it turned out to be one of the most beautiful mornings we had during our 3 weeks in Japan." - @jordhammond

It was just a short stop with my dad as we were on our way back from a photoshoot in Austria. It’s a perfect place for me to relax and calm down. ”Traveling may take many different forms – as a leisure holiday, backpacking tour, exploration or immersive experience. As a photographer, I discover places through landscapes, architecture, streets and mainly through people. When it comes to visual storytelling, first I discover the place on my own – observing the streets, getting that first impression, but often I also try to dive deeper under the surface, thus personal experiences make the understanding of foreign cultures and traditions much more profound. Meeting and talking to locals always helped me understand foreign cultures better and even if I am somewhere for a short time, I am always trying to talk to people around me. Speaking several languages really helped me on my trips and social media made it relatively easy to meet open-minded people, who are willing to show you their country or city."
